Hennessy, a prominent player among the “big four” cognac houses, has released a non-fungible token (NFT) linked to a limited-edition bottle on BlockBar, a leading NFT platform specializing in spirits.
The bottle marks Hennessy’s first collaboration with the community, co-designed by its Café 11 Web3 program members and the globally acclaimed artist Johnsville (John P. Dessereau).
The main objective behind this venture was to reimagine the iconic Hennessy V.S.O.P bottle, an acronym stemming from a historic order by the future King George IV of England in 1818, who requested a “Very Special Old Pale” from Maison Hennessy.
The redesigned bottle features a vibrant painting by Johnsville, inspired by the lively artistry of Parisian café culture, with input from Café 11 members who helped choose backgrounds, colors, and the bottle’s gift box.
Redeeming this limited-edition bottle is exclusive to those who secure the linked NFT, which is solely accessible to Café 11 members who own at least one Café 11 NFT.
NFT holders will have the opportunity to redeem the physical bottle starting on July 31, 2024.
This is not the first time Hennessy has partnered with BlockBar to link one of its bottles to NFTs. In September 2022, the brand introduced a special golden edition of its Paradis cognac through the platform.
