Luxury fashion brand Gucci and renowned auction house Christie’s have joined forces to host an auction featuring non-fungible token (NFT) artworks.
The event, titled “Future Frequencies: Explorations in Generative Art and Fashion,” showcases the works of established digital artists like Claire Silver, Tyler Hobbs, Emily Xie, Botto, William Mapan, and Zach Lieberman, among others.
With a focus on the intersection of art, fashion, and technology, the auction presents 21 unique pieces of digital art, each minted on the Ethereum blockchain. Each NFT highlights a different aspect of art and fashion, ranging from clothing elements to patterns and fantasies.
The auction will take place from July 18, 2023, starting tomorrow, through July 25, 2023, exclusively on Christie’s official Web3 platform.
Gucci has been actively involved in the web3 space, having previously collaborated with Superplastic, a global entertainment brand specializing in designer toys and digital collectibles, for the launch of the “SuperGucci” NFT collection in January 2022.
Continuing its foray into the digital realm, Gucci announced the launch of the “Gucci Vault Land” metaverse experience on The Sandbox in October 2022. In April, the fashion brand further expanded its presence by partnering with Yuga Labs’ Otherside metaverse project, resulting in the launch of the KodaPendant, a pendant available as both a digital NFT and a physical item.
Christie’s also recognized the potential of blockchain technology in the art world. In September 2022, the auction house unveiled Christie’s 3.0, a new platform dedicated to fully on-chain NFT auctions. In anticipation of this launch, Christie’s established Christie’s Ventures, an in-house investment organization aimed at providing financial support to crypto, blockchain, and NFT companies.
