Automotive company General Motors has submitted Web3-related trademark applications for its brands Cadillac and Chevrolet.
The applications, which were submitted to the USPTO on February 16, 2023, indicate the company’s plans to offer digital media files featuring artwork, text, audio, or video that are authenticated by non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
Michael Kondoudis, a trademark attorney, shared the news on Twitter earlier today.
This is not the first time an automobile manufacturer has expressed interest in joining Web3.
Several manufacturers, including Ford and Mercedes-Benz, submitted similar trademark applications for NFT and metaverse-related plans.
In terms of other initiatives, Lamborghini announced a collaboration with VeVe last week to bring some of its most popular sports cars to the NFT space, beginning with the Huracán STO.
In the meantime, BMW presented “i Vision Dee” last month, a metaverse automobile that represents the brand’s future vision of digital mobility.
