BMW has unveiled its “i Vision Dee” metaverse car, a digital concept car that aims to shape the brand’s vision of the future of digital mobility.
Dee, which stands for Digital emotional experience, is accessible through Joytopia, the Las Vegas-inspired virtual BMW world, and can be reached after completing a few missions suggested within the space.
The digital car is not static; it can recognize avatars, greet people, and open doors automatically while reflecting the avatar on the driver’s side windows. It can also speak and answer questions.
After clicking on it, avatars are drawn into the car, where they can explore all of its features, including the BMW Mixed Reality Slider, a key operational control that gradually turns the windscreen into a full-scale portal to a digital experience.
Within Joytopia, users can now also play a mission-based game in which they must discover automobile pieces scattered across the virtual world as a result of an accident and put them back together.
Throughout the game, players will be guided by Dee’s voice, which will initially sound robotic until the first task of restoring Dee’s genuine voice is completed.
The whole virtual experience is emotional, a perfect blend of nature and digital transformation that aims to emphasize the BMW Group’s vision of the future of mobility: electric, circular, and digital.
This is another step forward in BMW’s Web3 journey. Last November, it filed trademark applications to enter the metaverse and NFT space, while a few days ago it announced a partnership with Coinweb to implement blockchain technology in its operations and develop a cross-chain customer loyalty program in Thailand.
