Wolters Kluwer, a provider of healthcare point-of-care solutions, has announced a collaboration with BioDigital XR to bring medical education to the metaverse.
As a result of the partnership, healthcare students and practitioners will be able to study and practice in immersive and fail-safe environments using virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technology.
This will prepare them for entering the workforce and starting their careers at the best possible level, since they will be able to begin practice from the start, instead of only studying theory. As an example, they may be able to dissect cadavers in virtual reality.
BioDigital XR, in fact, delivers a cloud-based model of the human body and virtual solutions that students and anybody working in the healthcare profession may use at any time and from anywhere.
Its solutions include over 8,000 searchable, interactive 3D structures, 600+ 3D health condition, disease, and treatment models, and 500+ Interactive 3D quiz questions for students and university faculty to use for creating assessments and study guides.
The tools supplied will also allow users to handle 3D anatomical structural models, including rotating, resizing, and moving them, using virtual hands.
In January 2023, Wolters Kluwer and BioDigital will present cutting-edge virtual reality developments at the International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare (IMSH), held in Orlando, Florida.
This integration follows BioDigital‘s integration of its 3D virtual body platform with Ovid, Wolters Kluwer’s medical research platform of premium aggregated content and productivity tools, to provide a medically accurate virtual map of the human body for an immersive teaching and learning experience.
