Warner Music Group (WMG) has announced its entry into the Roblox metaverse with “Rhythm City.”
The virtual world — created in collaboration with Web3 startup Gamefam — is music-themed and features a social roleplay experience to link people with artists and music.
Users will be able to explore the space by picking a role — music producer, DJ, dancer, and more — and engaging in virtual concerts and music-themed challenges, as well as accessing a collection of digital items.
Rhythm City will be open for exploration beginning February 4, 2023.
WMG’s commitment to Web3 is growing by the day; yesterday the company announced a partnership with The Sandbox to launch a metaverse party for Spinnin’ Records’ World’s Biggest Demo Drop (WBDD), as well as an initiative to turn winning DJs’ tracks into NFTs via LGND Music, its newly-launched music-centered NFT platform.
Other collaborations WMG has strengthened include those with OpenSea, DRESSX, and POAP to boost its Web3 efforts.
