Toyota Australia has embarked on an innovative collaboration with global digital product and marketing agency R/GA to unveil an exciting new venture in the realms of Web3 and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
This partnership, in collaboration with Rotor Studios and Moonshot, has given rise to “GR-ID,” an exclusive Web3 and NFT initiative tailored to offer incentives to GR Yaris Rallye owners.
Owners of the GR Yaris Rallye, manufactured prior to November 1, 2022, are entitled to receive the GR-ID NFT for free. Functioning as a unique identifier, the GR-ID NFT will open the doors to a range of rewards provided by Toyota.
Each GR-ID NFT boasts a distinctive array of attributes that capture the essence and dynamism of the GR Yaris Rallye.
Among the benefits extended to NFT holders is a $50 VISA Digital gift card. Moreover, the GR-ID NFT provides an opportunity to evolve its design until November 2023 and attain a premium reward tier. Buyers will be able to achieve this by making a minimum purchase of $300 worth of One Toyota products or services.
These NFTs are minted on Immutable X, an advanced layer-2 scaling solution catering specifically to NFTs on the Ethereum blockchain.
The minting of the GR-ID NFTs will be available at no cost to eligible individuals, and the overall count of NFTs in the collection will be determined by the quantity minted during the designated phase.
While this marks Toyota’s first foray into the Web3 realm, this isn’t the automotive industry’s first venture into this emerging world.
Hyundai took a similar step in July by introducing an NFT membership club to provide exclusive experiences and utilities to IONIQ 6 NFT holders. This followed a trademark application filed in June for “Metamobility,” underscoring Hyundai’s commitment to advancing its NFT and metaverse undertakings.
