Square Enix has announced the release of a trading card set to honor the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy VII, a role-playing video game developed by Square for the PlayStation console.
The card set includes over 200 artworks that collectors can collect both physically and digitally as non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
Cards are available in three rarity categories — Normal, Premium, and Secret — and are sold in boxes of 20 physical card packs, each containing six physical trading cards chosen at random from the 207 available different designs.
Each box also includes an exchange ticket which can be redeemed for a chosen NFT card. NFTs are built on Efinity, a next-generation substrate-based blockchain for NFTs created by Enjin, a company that provides a suite of integrated technologies that make NFTs easy for everybody.
To redeem the digital card, users need to download the Enjin wallet app and be registered on the Enjin NFT platform, a marketplace for digital collectibles based on the Ethereum blockchain.
This release is another step forward for Square Enix in Web3; the company has been working on SYMBIOGENESIS, a 6-chapter story-based digital realm with 10,000 NFT characters, for the past year.
