The American ticket sales and distribution giant Ticketmaster has introduced a new feature that enables artists to give NFT holders priority or exclusive access to ticket event sales.
This means that event organizers or vendors can make a sale available primarily or exclusively to owners of a certain NFT.
The NFT-gated ticket sale feature is now compatible with Ethereum-minted tokens held in Dapp wallets, such as MetaMask or Coinbase, according to a statement from Ticketmaster.
In addition to rewarding holders of certain NFTs with access to exclusive presales, the functionality would also allow them to access premium seats or even personalized travel packages.
The heavy metal band Avenged Sevenfold was the first to request and use this functionality to reward holders of the Deathbats Club, a collection of 10,000 NFTs released two years ago to act as fan club membership cards to unlock privileges and access to events.
This NFT-gated ticket sale feature would allow artists to enhance their connections with their fan base while also making them feel rewarded.
In that regard, this isn’t Ticketmaster’s first move; in September, the company collaborated with Dapper Labs to enable organizers who sell live event tickets on Ticketmaster to issue NFTs.
