Sony Network Communications has teamed with Astar, a scalable decentralized blockchain, and Web3 innovation startup Startale Labs to launch a Web3 incubation program.
The program — which will run this year from mid-March through mid-June — will provide participants engaged in the Web3 space with business strategy and support.
Participants will be able to engage with leading VC companies and Web3 pioneers — such as Web3 Foundation and Alchemy — as well as receive feedback and attend useful sessions.
Participants will also have access to Sony and Astar resources as well as technical and financial support.
Sony may also consider investing in creative solutions. Following the incubation program, certain successful graduated initiatives will be advanced to the next step and will execute a proof of concept experiment in collaboration with Sony.
The program began accepting applications on February 17 and will continue to do so through March 6.
In addition, an offline demo day will be held in Tokyo during Japan Blockchain Week in June. Over 200 people will attend, including investors and companies involved in the incubation program.
Sony has already taken many moves in the Web3 world; last November, the company released “mocopi,” six little sensor bands that allow people to record motion for their metaverse avatars. During the same month, Sony finalized its acquisition of Beyond Sports, which will contribute to Sony’s clients receiving end-to-end sports data and metaverse services.
