The virtual space will serve as a dynamic platform to capture the attention of younger generations, while simultaneously intriguing a wider audience, all with the ultimate goal of bolstering tourism and fostering engagement.
Upon accessing “210 Plaza,” users are prompted to select a name and an avatar that will represent them in the virtual space.
From there, they can navigate through different locales within the digital city, including the Food Hall, Cultural Hub, and Theater, among others.
At each place, visitors have the opportunity to delve deeper into the multifaceted offerings and historical significance of San Antonio. This is facilitated through interactive content such as podcasts and videos.
While San Antonio stands as one of the pioneers in embracing the metaverse to enhance its appeal to younger demographics and boost tourism, it is not alone in this endeavor.
In a similar vein, the city of Seongnam unveiled plans in September 2022 for the “Metaverse Special City Seongnam” initiative with NFT citizenship. Likewise, Miami Gardens also entered the digital sphere during the same month, unveiling a metaverse rendition of the cityscape to attract new residents and prospective investors alike.
