To celebrate the football season, Samsung Middle East and North Africa (MENA) has unveiled a new metaverse endeavor.
The initiative, entitled “The Space Cup,” is a virtual playground built on Space Tycoon land on Roblox.
This area will host a virtual tournament in which eight of the region’s most notable players will compete.
Each of the eight leader players can form teams of three participants from among the registered users. Following that, the eight teams will compete in the two-day Space Cup tournament.
The tournament is open to all, and anyone can register through the Discord channel. To enter the tournament, players must first download the Roblox app, then search for the game “Samsung Space Tycoon,” then access the Space Cup in the main hall, and last snap a “selfie” to share with the captain of their country’s team.
“As Samsung constantly strives to combine innovation with fun experiences, the newly launched Space Cup tournament in the world of Metaverse will enable Gen Z players to experience Samsung devices, enjoy their favorite sport of football, as well as interact with other players in fun events and competitions,” said Mohamed El-Azzawy, Head of Brand and Digital Marketing at Samsung Electronics’ MENA Regional Headquarters.
The tournament is not Samsung’s sole initiative for the season. It will also start releasing four new standalone games for football and Roblox enthusiasts to enjoy until December 16, 2022.
These projects will be in addition to those already established by Samsung within Web3, such as the “House of SAM,” a metaverse experience where users can learn more about Samsung’s brand and products, and “837X,” its first virtual store on Decentraland.
