Playboy, an American global media and lifestyle company founded in 1953, has planned 69th birthday celebrations with a Web3 twist.
To commemorate the occasion, the company will release the “Playboy Party People Collection,” a collection of 1,969 NFT avatars minted on the scalable Polygon blockchain.
Each avatar was inspired by the iconic Playboy Mansion partygoers. Each NFT is unique, but they all have one thing in common: Playboy Bunny Ears of various rarities. The collection also includes ten one-of-a-kind Playboy-inspired 1/1 avatars.
Other than being playable across The Sandbox’s gaming metaverse and events, each NFT Bunny serves as a key to future utility, such as access to original drops and exclusive experiences, as well as enabling possibilities to earn SAND through games.
The Playboy Party People Collection will be launched in two waves: an allowlist on December 5, 2022, at 2 p.m. UTC, followed by a public sale on December 6, 2022, at 2 p.m. UTC.
This is not Playboy’s first move toward Web3. The company submitted trademark applications for “PLAYMATE” and “CENTERFOLD” in March, indicating its plan to enter the metaverse, provide NFTs and virtual blockchain-based tokens.
