To commemorate its 75th anniversary, Magnum Photos, a worldwide cooperative of photographers established in 1947, has announced the release of three NFT collections.
Each drop will contain a collection of pictures from Magnum’s archive, spanning the company’s history from the 1940s to the present.
Alejandro Cartagena, a co-founder of Obscura.io put together the inaugural NFT collection, and it includes both vintage and contemporary photos from Magnum’s legendary 75-year library. It features some of Magnum’s most acclaimed photographers.
The initial collection, which includes 75 NFT photographs, is available on Foundation for 1 ETH or $1084,23 (at the time of writing) per NFT.
Bringing the photography sector to the Web3 and converting photos into NFTs appears to be a means for photographers and individuals to maintain memories and art kept permanently on the blockchain, overcoming challenges that may arise while preserving them in their digital or physical forms.
