Mercedes-Benz highlighted new features during its participation at CES 2024, a prominent global tech event. The company provided additional details on its in-car non-fungible token (NFT) app, introduced last year, and unveiled metaverse-inspired functionalities.
A notable introduction was the “MBUX Virtual Assistant,” revealed as the most human-like interface in a Mercedes-Benz vehicle. Capable of expressing four different emotions, the assistant provides empathetic, personalized assistance and guidance to the driver.
Expanding its app portfolio, Mercedes-Benz introduced “MBUX Collectibles,” the company’s inaugural in-car app showcasing NFTs. This feature enables users to create a private art gallery by linking their personal NFT wallet to the user interface. Users can also choose to display curated NFTs, including the Mercedes-Benz NXT Icons Era 1 “Luxury” collection.
Mercedes-Benz also announced the upcoming release of a limited edition of 1,000 Superdackel NFTs, which pay homage to the previous year’s CES activities and can be showcased on the MBUX Collectibles app.
Mercedes-Benz’s involvement in Web3 and NFTs began in late 2022 with trademark applications for metaverse and NFT purposes.
In May 2023, its Web3 arm, NXT, collaborated with artist Harm van den Dorpel and Fingerprints DAO to launch the “Maschine” NFT collection.
Continuing its exploration of the NFT space, in August 2023, Mercedes-Benz launched another collection, “NXT Icons,” as a tribute to its design heritage.
