Luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton announced the launch of a miniature rendition of its iconic trunk as a non-fungible token (NFT).
Inspired by one of the mini trunks introduced alongside the latest fashion collection in September, the piece pays homage to the Damier motif and is the brainchild of Nicolas Ghesquière, the creative force behind Louis Vuitton’s women’s designs since 2013.
Dubbed the “Via Tile Trunk by Ghesquière,” the NFT is a limited edition, showcasing a white and gold mini trunk against a radiant orange backdrop.
NFT holders will have the opportunity to claim a tangible counterpart, set to be released in February 2024.
Limited to 200 units, each NFT is priced at approximately $6,500 and exclusively available to Louis Vuitton Treasure Trunk NFT holders.
Louis Vuitton initially introduced its Treasure Trunk NFTs in June, coinciding with the introduction of its “Via” Web3 project. In September, the brand expanded its Web3 presence on Discord, establishing a dedicated channel to engage with NFT holders, and fans, and foster a Web3-oriented community.
Louis Vuitton’s foray into Web3, however, began in 2021 with the unveiling of the company’s first Web3 game, “Louis: The Game,” featuring NFTs as rewards.
