LG Uplus, the renowned South Korean mobile network operator under LG Corporation, has taken a bold step into the metaverse, making its foray into the virtual fashion industry.
In a strategic collaboration with Ation Fashion, a domestic fashion company known for its casual brand Polham, and Z-Emotion, a pioneer in 3D simulation-based costume production software, LG Uplus plans to establish a virtual store offering a diverse range of fashion products and accessories.
Unlike common virtual fashion platforms, the concept store will bridge the gap between the virtual and real world by not only providing avatar clothing and items but also offline goods.
The partnership will also involve creating metaverse avatar costumes, establishing fashion clothing popup stores, planning metaverse and online linked commerce, and developing new technologies to integrate fashion and avatar costumes.
LG Uplus has consistently demonstrated its commitment to adopting innovative technologies. In November 2022, the company partnered with Cheongju University to develop the “Meta-Life” virtual university campus, offering students an immersive educational experience.
Earlier this year, the holding LG collaborated with renowned sculptor Barry X Ball to create a series of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) for their LG Art Lab platform. Launched in 2022, LG Art Lab serves as a digital platform that enables owners of LG smart TVs to purchase, sell, and showcase NFT artwork right from their living rooms.
