One of Spain’s most acclaimed actors, Javier Bardem, is entering the non-fungible token (NFT) market for a good cause.
As part of the project, a picture of the actor’s iris will be auctioned as an NFT to benefit Ojos del Mundo, a non-profit organization that fights preventable and curable blindness.
“Being able to see, to hear, to touch, to feel: these are things that we don’t really appreciate until we lose them,” Javier Bardem said in the video presenting the project. “Regaining access to everything you feel through seeing, which has such an impact on our emotions and sensibility, is an emotional and spiritual transformation.”
The auction will run from 29 September until 6 pm on 6 October on www.irisesoftheworld.org, with a starting price of €9,000.
The winning bidder will receive a link to an IPFS server where the high-quality photo can be kept and downloaded, and also published, exchanged, or sold.
