Hyundai has officially announced its entry into the metaverse, unveiling a new immersive experience on the Roblox platform during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024.
In the recently issued press release on January 15, Hyundai confirmed the launch of “Hyundai Future Adventure.” This metaverse experience comprises six maps, each centered around a unique challenge, all themed on “future mobility that will advance humanity.”
Within these challenges, users can explore mini-games and navigate a future-themed park showcasing robotics, IONIQ electric vehicles (EVs), advanced air mobility (AAM), hydrogen technology, and other futuristic technologies.
The metaverse space also features specific areas like the H-tech campus, designed for exploring cutting-edge technology, the HTWO waterpark powered by hydrogen, the Robotics lab showcasing a range of Hyundai robots, and more.
Alongside this metaverse experience, Hyundai is introducing a digital collectible collection featuring robotics items, allowing users to transform their avatars into futuristic versions.
This move into the metaverse is not a new step for Hyundai, as the company ventured into Web3 back in April 2022 with a collaboration with the “Meta Kongz” NFT brand for NFT releases. Successive initiatives included the release of the “Shooting Star” NFT collection in May 2022 and the establishment of an NFT membership club in June 2022.
In November 2023, Hyundai’s Innovation Center in Singapore unveiled the integration of robotics, AI, and the metaverse to revolutionize electric vehicle production and redefine customer engagement.
The automotive industry, akin to the fashion sector, has been an early adopter of Web3 technologies. Beyond enhancing customer engagement and attracting new generations, the industry sees the potential to streamline production and logistics processes. Projections suggest that the global metaverse market for the automotive sector is expected to reach $16.5 billion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 31.4% from 2022 to 2030.
