Sanrio, the renowned Japanese company responsible for creating the adored character Hello Kitty, has recently unveiled a groundbreaking collaboration with MetaGaia, a multi-platform metaverse. The collaboration aims to introduce Hello Kitty and other beloved characters to the immersive world of the metaverse.
Dubbed “Hello Kitty Seven Wonders,” this innovative metaverse space will offer a host of Hello Kitty-themed digital items, mini-games, and engaging activities for users to enjoy.
To celebrate this partnership and in an effort to extend the metaverse experience beyond the digital realm, Sanrio Hong Kong and MetaGaia are also set to organize a Hello Kitty Seven Wonders pop-up event at Hong Kong’s premier outlet mall, Citygate Outlets, this summer. Spanning 51 days, the event promises to blend augmented reality (AR) experiences with in-person interactions using Hello Kitty characters.
This collaboration between Sanrio and MetaGaia is part of a growing trend of beloved childhood characters finding new life in the Web3 era. Just earlier this month, Mediawan Kids & Family, the creative force behind “The Little Prince,” joined forces with The Sandbox to transport this cherished tale into the metaverse.
In April, the iconic Smurfs brand made its foray into Web3 with an NFT collection and an immersive virtual experience. Similarly, in March, VeVe collaborated with Sesame Workshop to offer an exclusive NFT collection featuring beloved Sesame Street characters.
