The official brand of The Smurfs, the beloved blue characters, has dipped its toes into Web3 with the launch of a Web3 project and a non-fungible token (NFT) collection.
The project, named “The Smurfs’ Society,” which is still in its early stages, plans to create a community and engage people in a gamified experience.
The project also includes an NFT collection called “The Smurfs’ Society Legendary,” which comprises 12,500 3D-rendered, rare Smurf PFPs (Profile Pictures). Smurfs are depicted in a variety of jobs, including the actor, alchemist, and architect.
A portion of the collection, totaling 3,000 NFTs, has already been the target of a bucket auction, a sort of auction in which the market determines the mint price (the clearing price). In under 48 hours, the auction received almost $1 million in bids and a clearing price of 0.173 ETH, or roughly $335.
Winning bidders will receive a Fusion NFT in addition to a Legendary NFT, that can be combined with the Smurf to personalize and power it. Holders, however, will not know which NFT they’ve received until the reveal day, which will take place in May 2023.
The project aims to revive the beloved childhood memories of the small, blue, humanoid creatures through a Web3 virtual adventure. While further sales and developments are still to be revealed, the gamified experience is expected to engage the community by challenging them to solve cryptic quests and battle the infamous Gargamel.
