VeVe is bringing the popular American children’s television series Sesame Street to the non-fungible token (NFT) market.
To that end, the app-based NFT marketplace has partnered with Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit organization responsible for the TV show’s production.
They collaborated on the creation of an NFT collection depicting the series’ most beloved characters.
Cookie Monster, the iconic blue Muppet character, will be featured in the first drop, with 5,555 editions available for $60 apiece.
The release will take place exclusively via the VeVe app on March 19, 2023.
The release would be an occasion “to celebrate Sesame Street’s enduring legacy and give our long-time fans a new way to showcase their love for Sesame Street and its characters,” according to Jennifer Ahearn, VP at Sesame Workshop.
The mission of VeVe has been to give cartoons, comics, and series a new life in the digital world since it was founded in 2018. Since then, the app has sold over 6 million NFTs, and has partnered with many companies.
One of the most recent partnerships was with Lamborghini for the launch of some of its most popular sports cars into the NFT world.
Other memorable releases date back to 2021, when VeVe collaborated with the Walt Disney Company to create the “Steamboat Willie” Mickey Mouse NFT collection, and with Coca-Cola to release four NFT festive snow globes.
