After announcing their collaboration and the launch of the world’s first non-fungible token (NFT) flight ticket series, TravelX and Air Europa today announced the closing of the auction of the first NFT air ticket, also called “NFTicket”, for a value of USD 1,002,000.
Carlos Betancourt designed the NFT in question, dubbed Future Eternal. Future Eternal, an animated composition, is a voyage into an interplanetary multi-verse flight, a region of parallel universes of the mind and spirit where the past is always mutating with the future, stimulating new possibilities and, eventually, new memories.
“We are very happy with the results of this first NFTicket. We see this as a bet on the future, which allows us to apply a layer of service experience that transforms our offer for the customer”, explained Valentín Lago, CEO of Air Europa.
TravelX was founded to rethink the travel industry and accelerate its transition to Web3 by tokenizing travel inventory in NFTs that can be exchanged alongside stable cryptocurrencies through the blockchain ecosystem. A simple interface will open up a new universe of use cases, allowing travel companies to improve the efficiency and profitability of their inventory distribution.
“We found that blockchain technology had reached a point of maturity enough to help travelers have a more seamless experience and increase profitability for travel providers,” said Juan Pablo Lafosse, co-founder of TravelX. “We are honored to work with amazing artists, like Carlos Betancourt, to make these top 10 NFTickets even more special and eternally collectible. And we know that the excitement and value generated by this first NFTicket is also the recognition and validation of an app. for NFTs in the real world. We think this could become the new norm for the travel industry.”
To create the first NFTicket, TravelX used Algorand, the world’s most decentralized, scalable, and secure blockchain infrastructure.
“TravelX used Algorand, the 100% carbon-negative blockchain, designed from the ground up for minimal environmental impact,” said Silvio Micali, Algorand’s founder. “We are excited to provide the blockchain infrastructure for TravelX to change the world of travel in an environmentally friendly way.”
To celebrate, TravelX hosted an invite-only event at the Eiffel Tower, where the final offer for the first NFTicket was revealed. For more information, visit www.travelx.io.
