Meta is no longer only exploring the metaverse. The Facebook parent firm is venturing into the real world, with plans to open ‘The Meta Store’ in Burlingame, California on May 9th.
Its first physical store will feature hardware devices like its virtual reality headset Quest 2, smart glasses Ray-Ban Stories, and video-calling device Portal, allowing customers to interact with them and get a first look at the virtual world that will presumably predominate in the near future.
“The best way to understand virtual reality is to experience it,” CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a statement.
After announcing the integration of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on Instagram and Facebook, Meta now appears to be taking a step forward in its road toward virtual reality. The purpose for building a physical store might be related to evaluating if people are ready for this new world, as well as their preferences and admiration for futuristic technologies.
