Decentraland is once again championing inclusivity and diversity in the virtual world as it gears up to host its annual virtual pride parade for the third consecutive year.
Teaming up with creative studios 3D Polygonal Mind and Vegas City, the metaverse platform has scheduled the event to take place from June 27 to June 29, 2023.
The virtual pride parade promises to offer an array of immersive experiences, ranging from virtual art installations and live musical performances to interactive games and engaging activities.
Participants will have the opportunity to create their own avatars and customize them with a wide selection of digital wearables. In addition, the event will showcase exclusive wearables designed by LGBTQIA+ digital artists, and aspiring designers can submit their creations for the Metaverse Pride Wearable design contest.
This year’s metaverse pride parade will go beyond entertainment and provide educational experiences through workshops and panel discussions led by global community leaders. Topics to be addressed include LGBTQIA+ rights, mental health, and advocacy.
Decentraland’s efforts to foster inclusivity in the virtual world extend beyond the pride parade. The platform’s Metaverse Fashion Week (MVFW), now in its second year, has successfully brought fashion into the metaverse, enabling individuals to express themselves authentically.
Moreover, Decentraland is not alone in its support for the LGBTQIA+ community. In July 2022, Coca-Cola launched the “Coca-Cola Pride NFT Collection,” expanding its presence in the world of non-fungible tokens. Additionally, NYX Professional Makeup made its metaverse debut with the groundbreaking “Paint Your Own Story” campaign, which included a virtual meta-pride parade in May 2022.
