Watch brand Casio has partnered with the move-to-earn game Stepn Go to release a series of non-fungible token (NFT) sneakers.
These sneakers are inspired by Casio’s G-Shock watches, particularly the G-Squad series. The collection will feature four different designs, totaling 800 sneakers.
The raffle mint for these sneakers will take place from August 26 to 30 on Mooar — an NFT marketplace developed by Find Satoshi Labs (FSL), the creators of Stepn.
Buyers will be able to use the NFT sneakers within the Stepn Go app, which rewards users for engaging in physical activities like walking, jogging, and running.
This release follows Stepn’s recent introduction of “Stepn Go,” a new app designed to complement the original, allowing users to lend NFT sneakers, earn a new token (GGT), and customize avatars within the platform.
This collaboration is part of Casio’s ongoing expansion into the Web3 space. The company first ventured into this area last year after filing a trademark to show interest in the metaverse and NFTs. Following this, Casio launched the Virtual G-Shock project, beginning with the release of 15,000 free limited-edition NFT passes on the Polygon blockchain.
In 2023, Casio also entered the metaverse by opening a virtual G-Shock watch store in collaboration with VRchat. Additionally, the brand teamed up with Doodles to create a watch collection inspired by NFTs. In May, Casio marked its 50th anniversary by releasing eight NFT watches in partnership with Astar zkEVM.
