KEY POINTS
Qatar Adventure, a virtual metaverse experience introduced by Qatar last December, has garnered significant attention, attracting over 7 million visitors during its run.
Hosted within the popular Livetopia virtual world on the Roblox platform, this initiative was launched to commemorate the first anniversary of the Qatar World Cup 2022 final and Qatar National Day.
The experience — which was available until February 8, 2024 — quickly became one of the fastest-growing nation-branded virtual experiences on Roblox, contributing notably to Livetopia’s overall visit count, which has surpassed 4 billion visits. Qatar Adventure’s eight-week lifespan accounted for 7.1 million visits, according to Qatar’s International Media Office.
Within this virtual space, visitors had the opportunity to explore various landmarks of Qatar, including the Katara Towers Hotel, which attracted 10.1 million visits, the Lusail Stadium with 3.7 million explorations, and a pearl diving game with 5.6 million swims.
Additionally, the experience featured a virtual clothing store where avatars could try on traditional attire, resulting in over 720,000 visits and 1.29 million try-ons of digital traditional clothing.
Qatar Adventure represents the country’s first official foray into the metaverse. However, it follows other initiatives such as Qatar Airways‘ introduction of the Qverse metaverse in 2023. This platform allowed users to explore exclusive areas, including the premium check-in zone at Hamad International Airport.
