Japan’s renowned automotive giant, Nissan, continues to push the boundaries of futuristic design with its latest creation, the Hyper Punk concept, now venturing into the metaverse.
In a nod to the cutting-edge Web3 landscape, the Hyper Punk concept car represents a fusion of technology and art, bridging the gap between the digital and physical worlds.
One standout feature of the Hyper Punk concept is its onboard cameras, designed to capture the surrounding environment and employ artificial intelligence (AI) to transform it into manga-style scenes or graphic patterns tailored to the owner’s personal preferences.
This imagery can then be projected onto a three-screen display positioned around the driver within the car’s cockpit, creating what Nissan describes as “a space where reality and the world of the metaverse are fused together.”
This visionary concept is set to make its debut on October 25 at the Japan Mobility Show 2023. On the same date, all four of Nissan’s concept EV cars — namely, the Nissan Hyper Urban, Nissan Hyper Adventure, Nissan Hyper Tourer, and the Nissan Hyper Punk — will also be virtually accessible within the Fortnite metaverse.
Dubbed “Electrify the World,” this dedicated space within Fortnite will provide car enthusiasts and those unable to attend the in-person event with an opportunity to explore these vehicle models in an immersive new dimension.
This initiative is not Nissan’s first venture into Web3. In October 2022, the company partnered with Grease Monkey Games to introduce its first car NFTs for use in the Polygon-based race game Torque Drift 2 Motorsport.
Back in July 2022, Nissan also commissioned five artists to create their individual artistic interpretations of the ARIYA model. These creations were then displayed within the metaverse.
