ConsenSys, the creator of one of the most popular wallets, MetaMask, has announced a collaboration with the world-renowned online payment system PayPal.
As a result of the collaboration, MetaMask users will be able to purchase Ethereum (ETH) with PayPal.
The option, which will initially be offered exclusively to a restricted group of US users, will be added to those already available, such as CoinbasePay, Transak, MoonPay, or Wyre.
As a result, buying ETH using PayPal will be as simple as any other existing method: users will need to open their MetaMask wallet app, click on Buy, select PayPal, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
This inclusion would make it easier to buy ETH and bring more people to the Web3 ecosystem.
MetaMask wallet has quickly gained popularity since its introduction in 2016, and today boasts 21 million monthly active users, a 38-times increase from 2020, with its developer, ConsenSys, valued at $3.2 billion.
PayPal has also made significant progress in Web3 as the new world has caught on. It submitted trademark applications for its name and logo in October for Web3-related purposes, such as downloadable software for managing, validating, and transferring digital currency.
