Meta has announced the release of the XTADIUM app on its Meta Quest VR headsets.
The app allows sports fans to experience sporting events in 180-degree virtual reality. They have the option of selecting the best view from eight various camera angles.
Users can also join friends as avatars within the event.
XTADIUM, which is now only available in the United States, already has a calendar of upcoming VR sports events, such as VOD UFC Fight Pass events and matches from the All American Cup – Team Tennis Tournament.
New content will be introduced in the future, and fans will soon be able to get a ticket to live pay-per-view events or access subscription-only content through authentication from their favorite leagues and networks, according to Meta’s statement.
This is another step toward Meta’s goal of creating a completely virtual experienceable world, and it comes on the heels of other major initiatives, such as announcing the release of its Meta Quest Pro VR headsets, a partnership with Microsoft, advancements in Meta Horizon Worlds, and the launch of a fashion avatar store and a physical store, “The Meta Store,” to introduce people to the metaverse.
