L’Oréal Dermatological Beauty Division has entered into a partnership with software company Ubitus K.K. to introduce the “Perfect Skin Expo,” a unique metaverse showroom.
The event, which is set to run in Taiwan until September 30, 2023, aims to leverage the metaverse to showcase and offer products from L’Oréal Dermatological Beauty Division brands — including La Roche-Posay, CeraVe, and VICHY.
Each brand features a distinctive showroom designed to align with its unique brand image. This approach enables customers to explore the showrooms effortlessly, delve into their preferred product selections, and complete purchases via direct links to Taiwan’s leading e-commerce platforms, namely Momo and Shopee.
Customers can immerse themselves in an array of product presentations, including images, videos, and immersive 3D displays.
To enhance the authenticity of the metaverse shopping experience, Ubitus is employing its cloud gaming technology. This includes advanced features like ray-tracing and minimal latency to make the virtual shopping environment as lifelike as possible.
This is not the first time L’Oréal has entered the metaverse. In April, the company unveiled new virtual hair looks on platforms like Roblox, Ready Player Me, and Zepeto.
Additionally, in March, Maybelline New York, a L’Oréal brand, introduced its new mascara through a campaign featuring its first metaverse avatar, May.
In January, L’Oréal made investments in Digital Village, a metaverse-as-a-service platform and NFT marketplace, with the aim of advancing beauty within the metaverse and Web3.
