Kenneth Cole, the chairman and chief creative officer of Kenneth Cole Productions, an American fashion brand founded in 1982, is launching an NFT collection to support The Mental Health Coalition.
The NFT collection, dubbed “The Normal Series,” comprises a series of messages written by Cole in his own voice and hand-drawn style. “Abnormal is the only normal,” “Nobody is normal,” “There is no normal,” and “Fk normal” are among the NFT messages.
The coalition’s emblem, “a square pin in a round hole,” is also included in the artwork to represent the all-too-common feeling that everyone has at some point.
Using his collection, Cole hopes to challenge the inaccurate and prevalent views of “normal” and generate funds for eradicating the stigma associated with today’s most prevalent public health crisis.
“I am excited about NFTs and have been looking for a way to make them both accessible to many and impactful to even more. With this project, I hope we will have done both. I feel this is a vehicle for us to shine a light on mental health, a global crisis, and also allows the community to be part of the story,” said Kenneth Cole, chairman and chief creative officer of Kenneth Cole Productions.
Each NFT will be minted for $100 (about 0.05 ETH) in order to make the artwork more affordable and let more people share the message. There will also be incentives according to each NFT’s level or rarity.
On Friday, the NFTs will be available for purchase at KennethColeX.com.
The Mental Health Coalition, a movement fighting to remove the stigma around mental health and alter the way people talk about and care for mental illness, will receive 100% of the proceeds.
