Web3 infrastructure and gaming platform Immutable has formed a partnership with gaming studio Endless Clouds for the release of two non-fungible token (NFT)-based games — Treeverse and Capsule Heroes.
The games will be built on Immutable zkEVM, a gaming chain based on Ethereum that enables game developers to incorporate customized digital ownership and Web3 mechanics into their games.
Both Treeverse and Capsule Heroes are battle games with adventure-based storylines, set to be initially released in open alpha and beta formats.
Endless Clouds, supported by Animoca Brands and others, already boasts a substantial global gamer database with nearly $100 million in NFT trading volume.
The collaboration with Immutable aims to expand Endless Clouds’ customer base and simplify onboarding for new gamers, also leveraging Immutable Passport — a single sign-on solution that allows users to easily manage their identities and digital assets across games.
Immutable, with significant experience in the Web3 gaming sector, previously started a partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) in October 2023 to validate cloud data on the Ethereum blockchain, contributing to the evolution and mainstreaming of Web3 gaming.
In 2022, Metaverse Game Studios revealed plans to use ImmutableX for its AAA Web3 title, Angelic, and was selected by GameStop in the same year to power its now-retired NFT marketplace.
Despite fluctuations in the NFT market, the Web3 gaming industry continues to advance. Recently, Animoca Brands collaborated with iCandy to launch “Snaky Cat,” an NFT game combining traditional gameplay with blockchain technology.
As the Web3 gaming market is anticipated to exceed $133,228.2 million by 2033, gaming stores are also progressively adapting. In December 2023, Epic Games Store lifted its ban on blockchain games and updated its content policy. Similarly, in July 2023, Google Play revised its policy, permitting developers to integrate digital assets, including NFTs, into their apps on the platform.
