Renowned port wine producer, Graham’s, has made its entry into the world of Web3 announcing the release of a non-fungible token (NFT) that will accompany limited-edition cases of its iconic 1970 & 2020 Vintage Ports, celebrating two significant milestones in the brand’s history.
The limited-edition cases consist of Graham’s 1970 Vintage Port, marking the year when the Symington family acquired the company and produced the first classic Graham’s Vintage Port under their ownership. The second vintage is Graham’s 2020 Bicentenary Edition, commemorating the company’s bicentenary.
Only 50 limited edition cases will be made available for purchase and sold at the Graham’s Lodge in Vila Nova de Gaia starting July 24, 2023.
Each case will come paired with its own NFT. The NFT — which will be hosted on the Club dVIN platform — will act as proof of authenticity and entitle holders of the NFT to exclusive benefits.
Among the perks offered to NFT holders will be an allocation for a case of the next classic Graham’s Vintage Port release and six free guided tours and tastings at the historic Graham’s Lodge.
The NFT will also be accessible through near-field communication (NFC) technology, with owners simply tapping their phones on the anti-counterfeit NFC tags attached to each bottle.
The limited-edition case and its accompanying NFT will be available at a price of €3,000 (approximately $3,300).
Graham’s is now among several wine and spirits brands that have ventured into the Web3 space. Appleton Estate made its move in May by releasing the Appleton Estate 17 Year Old Legend as an NFT on the Blockbar marketplace. Similarly, in November 2022, Johnnie Walker Blue Label ventured into the NFT space, offering NFT holders the unique opportunity to participate in voting on the design of a limited edition bottle.
