Renowned French fashion house Maison Margiela has ventured into the world of Web3 by launching an innovative non-fungible token (NFT) game based on its iconic numbering system.
Accessible through a dedicated website by connecting a digital wallet, the game features a sequence of numbers from 0 to 23. Each number represents a unique Maison Margiela collectible that players can mint for free.
These collectibles are limited in quantity — with, for instance, 15,000 units of number 0 and similar limits expected for the other 23 numbers. Once these limits are reached, the collectibles can no longer be minted.
Every time a player mints a collectible, a 24-minute global timer resets for everyone.
Players need to mint as many collectibles as possible to unlock Maison Margiela’s Web3 Roadmap.
All these numbers will be converted into NFTs on the Polygon blockchain. These NFTs are “SoulBound Tokens,” meaning they cannot be transferred or sold.
The NFT numbers have already been listed on OpenSea, displayed in silver circles, each with a shimmering animation against a background of a cloudy violet sky.
The game will end when the first 100 users successfully collect all 24 numbers or “at the discretion of Maison Margiela.”
This initiative draws inspiration from Maison Margiela’s distinctive brand label, found on every physical piece of clothing. The label features black numbers from 0 to 23, organized in three rows. Each number corresponds to a product line and is encircled to denote the collection it belongs to.
