Leading NFT-custom Mastercard debit card provider, “hi,” has unveiled a partnership with The Sandbox, allowing cardholders to use SAND for real-world transactions.
SAND is the primary utility token within The Sandbox ecosystem, and this collaboration empowers hi cardholders who hold SAND to spend it at over 90 million retailers both in physical stores and online.
To mark the collaboration, the two companies are also giving away 100 NFT Sandbox Avatars that can be used in the metaverse. Starting on October 26, the first 100 cardholders who use their hi debit card for purchases equivalent to 1,000€ (approximately $1,050) will have a chance to get one of the NFTs.
Introduced in 2022, the hi Mastercard is the first card program of its kind, enabling NFT avatar customization directly on the card. Cardholders can personalize the face of their card with an NFT avatar they verifiably own and use their digital and fiat assets at millions of merchants worldwide.
hi offers six distinct card types, each with unique benefits tailored to the cardholder’s membership level — ranging from Basic to Diamond — and provides compatibility with a wide array of popular NFT collections — including CryptoPunks, Moonbirds, Goblins, Bored Apes, and Azuki.
The hi card embeds innovative features, including Buy-Now-Convert-Later technology, allowing members to earn crypto rewards while spending, along with a range of digital subscriptions and travel perks based on their membership tier.
