There are a few hours left until the start of the most exuberant event in the metaverse up to now: Metaverse Fashion Week (MVFW). At the virtual event hosted by Decentraland, more than 60 fashion brands will present more than 500 looks.
Several iconic brands will make their Web3 debut, including Dolce & Gabbana, Tommy Hilfiger, Etro, Elie Saab, Imitation of Christ, Dundas, Nicholas Kirkwood, FaithTribe, Chufy, Monnier Frères, Hugo Boss, Franck Muller, DKNY, Gary McQueen, and Guo Pei.
During the fashion event, users will be able to scan QR codes to see renders of the items, before using their crypto wallet funds to purchase items as non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
After users have purchased NFTs, they can wear them on their avatars. Some can also be traded for the physical version of the item, with brands working with brand platform Boson Protocol to sell physical goods through the metaverse.
Musical guests closing this historic event will be Grimes and Auroboros. The immersive DJ set and sonic light show will be held on the 27th of March at 9pm GMT / 5pm EST.
The goal of this virtual event is to overcome typical problems associated with traditional fashion shows. In most cases, they are too restrictive for the average person; they are almost always invite-only. By contrast, MVFW will be free and open to everyone, as it will be digital and all users need is a computer and an internet connection to attend.
