Metaverse platform Decentraland is advancing user experience by facilitating cross-chain non-fungible token (NFT) purchases.
Through a collaboration with Squid, a cross-chain liquidity layer powered by Axelar, and the Axelar Network, which ensures secure cross-chain communication for Web3, users no longer require Decentraland’s native token, MANA, in their wallets for NFT transactions.
The partnership allows users to use any asset in their wallets for seamless purchases. Squid efficiently handles the cross-chain routing in the background, completing orders in just a few seconds.
This development enables users to access the Decentraland marketplace, browse NFTs, and make purchases effortlessly without the need to own MANA.
The initiative follows Squid’s recent introduction of “NFT Checkout,” the tool that allows users to buy NFTs on any chain using the tokens in their wallets.
Decentraland’s commitment to enhancing user experience is evident in its previous initiatives.
In October, the platform introduced NFT names for avatars, allowing users to establish a digital identity in the metaverse by acquiring unique names tied to ENS subdomains.
Additionally, in September, Decentraland unveiled its annual music festival, themed “Rebirth & Regeneration,” as a tribute to talents and the community. The festival showcased art and music in the metaverse, offering rewards to artists and providing a platform for them to exhibit their work.
