Web3 game development and publishing leader, Immutable Games, has revealed that Amazon Prime Gaming members can now access in-game content for its flagship trading card game, Gods Unchained.
Members are now able to play the game and claim in-game assets. The initial asset available through the Amazon Gaming portal is a set comprising 5 Rare Core Packs and 1 Core Domain Pack.
As per a blog post by Gods Unchained, new claimable assets will be unlocked each month until April 2024.
These items won’t be non-fungible tokens (NFTs) but digital items for in-game use. Players, however, have the opportunity to transform these items into NFTs by combining two or more, resulting in a rarer version tradable through the Immutable X network.
This announcement coincides with the launch of season 2 of Gods Unchained, named “Far Horizons.” The season introduces visual improvements and a significant expansion set called “Tides of Fate,” featuring 142 collectible cards and nine in-game cards.
Since its launch in 2018, Gods Unchained has rapidly become one of the most popular play-to-earn tactical card games on the blockchain, boasting over 450,000 registered players. The game’s full mobile launch is anticipated to further boost this number. The pre-alpha release for Android-based smartphones earlier in the year garnered over 60,000 app sessions in under a month.
Amazon’s collaboration with Gods Unchained is part of its broader initiative to expand its offerings in the NFT and Web3 space. In August, Amazon partnered with Mystic Moose to bring Mojo Melee, an NFT game on Polygon, to its platform, offering NFTs to Prime subscribers.
These moves align with Amazon’s growing interest in NFTs and web3 technologies, evident since the start of 2023. The company has signaled an intention to deepen collaborations with web3 leaders, including developers, layer-1 blockchains, digital asset exchanges, and startups, focusing on the development of blockchain-based gaming and NFT applications.
