Soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo has announced a new non-fungible token (NFT) collection in collaboration with crypto exchange Binance.
Ronaldo shared the news on an X (Twitter) post on May 24, beginning with the question, “Are you ready to relive our journey together?”
The collection is designed to highlight Ronaldo’s career journey, from his early days in Madeira to achieving G.O.A.T (Greatest of All Time) status. According to the drop page, these NFTs will offer holders “bigger and better utilities than ever.”
While specific details about the collection are yet to be revealed, it is scheduled for release on May 29 at 8 am UTC.
This marks the fourth NFT collection Ronaldo has launched with Binance. Their partnership began in 2022 with the release of the first collection. In 2023, they followed up with two more collections: “ForeverCR7: The GOAT” and “ForeverZone.”
The second collection, in particular, garnered significant attention as it offered holders a chance to take part in a training session with Ronaldo in Lisbon, Portugal.
All these collections aim to celebrate Ronaldo’s illustrious career and strengthen the bond between him and his fans, whom he considers a “big part of his success.”
However, the partnership between Binance and Ronaldo has faced challenges recently.
In November 2023, Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao resigned after admitting to money laundering violations, and the Department of Justice imposed a $4 billion fine on the company.
Following that, Ronaldo was embroiled in a class-action lawsuit related to his NFT collaboration with Binance, with allegations concerning the promotion of unregistered securities.
Earlier this month, a judge denied Ronaldo’s motion to dismiss the lawsuit, meaning the soccer legend will have to continue addressing these legal issues.
