Cool Cats has announced the release of the second chapter of its manga series featuring its non-fungible token (NFT) characters.
The new chapter is now available on Comic Days, a popular Japanese manga app that offers free access to various manga series.
This latest release follows the debut of the Cool Cats manga series last month, which was created in collaboration with Kodansha and San FranTokyo.
The series brings to life some of the key characters from the Cool Cats NFT collection, including the project’s mascot, Blue Cat. The story is set in the whimsical world of Sapphire Town and is illustrated by Yuuma Natsuna.
The first chapter, titled “Welcome to Sapphire Town,” was released on July 15, with the following chapters set to be released monthly. While the manga is currently available only online, a physical book release is planned across Japan later this year.
This manga series represents one of several initiatives Cool Cats has undertaken outside of the NFT space.
Last November, the project launched “The Milk Chug,” a cartoon series on YouTube featuring its NFT characters in short animated episodes. More recently, in April, Cool Cats introduced the “Color Me Cool” initiative, which allowed NFT holders to customize statues by painting them. These customized statues were then digitally recreated.
In May, the project held its annual art contest called “Clontest,” where artists were invited to depict characters from “The Milk Chug” series. Prizes for the contest included valuable NFTs.
Cool Cats, which launched in 2021, is a collection of 9,999 hand-illustrated cartoon characters, each with unique traits generated algorithmically. The project has quickly gained prominence within the NFT space. According to data from CoinMarketCap, the collection has an all-time trading volume of 157,959 ETH, equivalent to over $416 million, with a current floor price of 0.26 ETH, approximately $685.
