KEY POINTS
Non-fungible token (NFT) project Cool Cats has introduced a new initiative named “Color Me Cool,” tailored for its holders.
In a recent post on X (Twitter) dated April 5, Cool Cats announced the shipment of 3,000 10-inch blank statues featuring the project’s iconic character — Blue Cat — to select holders.
Recipients of these statues are invited to personalize them through painting according to their preferences. Upon completion, holders can scan the NFC chip embedded in the statue base, prompting the Macy’s Interactive and Cool Cats team to employ artificial intelligence for the creation of a 3D digital rendition of the customized statue, which will be minted as an NFT.
The resulting NFT will be associated with the physical statue, enabling holders to scan the NFC and access, as well as share, the digital collectible.
The Color Me Cool initiative stems from last year, aimed at commemorating the inaugural collaboration between Cool Cats and Macy’s. Eligible holders had until November 22, 2023, to register and claim their statue.
The partnership between Macy’s and Cool Cats first started during Macy’s 97th Thanksgiving Day Parade, where Cool Cats NFTs were featured, following the project’s victory in a 2022 public vote, where fans selected their favorite from five prominent NFT projects.
This marks Cool Cats’ foray beyond the confines of the NFT world. Last year, the project expanded its horizons by launching “The Milk Chug” series on YouTube, showcasing its beloved NFT characters in animated shorts.
Established in 2021, Cool Cats comprises 9,999 hand-illustrated cats, each characterized by a unique set of algorithmically generated traits. It stands as one of the premier NFT collections to date, with a current floor price of 0.4065 ETH, approximately $1,350, and a 24-hour trading volume of 104.01 ETH, exceeding $345,000, with 241 sales.
