KEY POINTS
Popular non-fungible token (NFT) project Cool Cats has announced its fourth annual art contest — “Clontest.”
This year, the contest is open to all artists and has a single main requirement: participants must include at least four characters from “The Milk Chug” — Cool Cats’ animated series.
The series, featuring characters from the Cool Cats collection in story-driven episodes, premiered its first episode on YouTube in November 2023, followed by the second episode in December.
Among the key characters artists must feature in their submissions are Blue, the iconic blue cat representing the Cool Cats collection, and Chugs, Blue Cat’s loyal sidekick.
To enter the contest, artists need to create their artwork and post it on X (Twitter). They must also submit their entries to the Alphabot page by May 31. The artworks will be judged based on “pure creativity.”
The first-place winner will receive an EXO2 Cool Cat NFT, which has a floor price of around 0.3 ETH (approximately $1,170), and a Shadow Wolf Scholar NFT, valued at about 0.02 ETH (around $80).
The second-place winner will be awarded a Cool Cat NFT, with a similar floor price of around 0.3 ETH, and a Shadow Wolf Scholar NFT. The third-place winner will receive a Shadow Wolf Scholar NFT.
Cool Cats has a history of engaging its community through creative contests. Last month, the project introduced the “Color Me Cool” initiative, which allowed NFT holders to customize statues of Blue through painting. These painted statues were then digitally recreated as NFTs.
Launched in 2021, Cool Cats is a collection of 9,999 randomly generated NFTs minted on the Ethereum blockchain. Since its inception, it has become one of the most popular projects in the NFT space, with an all-time trading volume of 157,498 ETH, amounting to over $615 million.
