Celebrity Cruises, a cruise line based in Miami, Florida, has entered Web3 with its first metaverse experience, “Wonderverse.”
The virtual experience allows users to virtually explore the company’s newest ship, Celebrity Beyond.
The adventure starts with a first engagement that entails steering a boat away from the wharf. While guiding it, players can collect coins and earn points as they make their way to the virtual cruise ship.
When avatars get to the Celebrity Beyond ship, they are transported inside. A map on the left menu allows them to select and visit various virtual destinations, such as the Grand Plaza, Resort Deck, and Sunset Bar, among others.
Within these areas, the avatar can interact with other users and engage in conversation via chat or video camera, and microphone.
Aside from the ship’s social spaces, visitors can digitally explore four of the ship’s real-world itineraries, including St. Lucia, Santorini, Alaska, and Japan. Avatars can discover some of the best places that characterize each of these destinations, as well as get travel recommendations.
Other Wonderverse leisure activities include mini-games like “Endless Runner” and “Easter eggs,” as well as customizing avatars and trying out new dance emotes.
Although this is Celebrity Cruises’ first metaverse experience, it is not the company’s first foray into Web3. The cruise company announced the debut of its ‘Peacemakers Sunset‘ NFT collection in May, created in collaboration with world-renowned artist Rubem Robierb.
