Animoca Brands Japan has revealed the name of its upcoming non-fungible token (NFT) launchpad — “Sorah,” inspired by the Japanese word for “sky.”
Announced last month and set to debut this summer, the launchpad aims to link Japan with the global community by promoting Japanese IP, such as manga and anime, through NFTs. The name “Sorah” reflects this goal, “just as the sky connects the world as one,” according to Kensuke Amo, the COO of Animoca Brands Japan.
Sorah will support both Ethereum and Polygon networks, providing creators and projects with essential tools to sell their NFTs. Additionally, it will offer marketing and sales strategy support to help creators maximize their reach and impact.
A press release shared with Cryptoflies mentions that the launchpad will also feature an NFT-based loyalty program, which will offer additional benefits to holders.
While more details about Sorah will be announced later, interested sellers can already begin submitting their applications.
Animoca Brands Japan has been active in promoting Japanese IP in the Web3 space since its inception.
One of its recent projects includes joining forces with MyAnimeList and San FranTokyo to be a key launch partner for the Anime Foundation, a community-owned Web3 protocol designed for anime and manga fans.
In 2023, Animoca Brands Japan released an NFT collection featuring characters from the anime “Liar Liar” as exclusive eFigurines. The company also collaborated with the fantasy game Nine Chronicles M for various NFT sales in April. Earlier this month, it launched “Fairy Tail” NFT cards, featuring 29 characters from the well-known manga series.
