Adidas has made yet another step toward Web3. Unlike previous projects, however, Adidas aimed to make this one more engaging and mysterious.
The initiative, which began in late October, included a box hunt game for the Adidas Discord community. The community was asked to help in the finding of hidden boxes resembling Adidas hoodies all across the world wide web.
The first box was discovered at an address stamped on a hoodie, while the second was discovered on Adidas’ metaverse website, where its Web3 adventure began last year.
The hunt went on until November 5, when the eighth and final box was spotted in the Adidas NYC flagship store on 5th Avenue.
After the hunt was completed, Adidas capsule metadata could evolve and advance to Phase 2, which entailed the release of the Meta Capsule NFT collection on OpenSea.
The NFTs in the collection are still on sale in the form of the boxes discovered during the hunt. On November 16, however, they will be unboxed, exposing to the community what’s inside.
Adidas Web3’s adventure began last December, when it first announced partnerships with cryptocurrency investor Gmoney, the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT project, and Punks Comic. The collaboration resulted in the launch of an NFT collection with exclusive access to streetwear drops that generated over $23 million in sales.
