The world’s largest shoe manufacturer, Adidas, recently announced its entrance into the metaverse through partnerships with the non-fungible token (NFT) projects Bored Ape Yacht Club and Punks Comic.
In a tweet posted on December 2, the company revealed its partnership with cryptocurrency investor Gmoney, the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT project, and Punks Comic.

The company has also updated its Twitter profile picture with a Bored Ape Yacht Club image.
Adidas purchased Bored Ape Yacht Club #8,774 which was last sold for 46 ETH, $158.836,16 at the time of sale.

A release date for the merged BAYC and Adidas NFTs is still unknown. During last week’s announcement, Adidas detailed its partnership with cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase. It also introduced its involvement with the Sandbox, a virtual world built around blockchain technology.
