The 1896-founded Italian daily newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, which covers a variety of sports, has decided to inject some innovation into its writing.
The newspaper has teamed up with Web3 Italian startup Nefertiti to tell the best moments in sports history by launching the HEROES project. The project will include selling the most iconic front pages that retrace the history of Italian sports as non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
The NFTs include several significant and unforgettable firsts for La Gazzetta dello Sport and Italian sport, offering fans the chance to own these moments and hold them on the blockchain.
The NFTs depict moments such as the first ever page of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the historic pink first page, the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy, the victory of the first drivers’ championship for Ferrari with the legendary Alberto Ascari at the wheel and the first women’s Grand Slam Italian conquered by Francesca Schiavone at Roland Garros.
The historical first pages of La Gazzetta dello Sport are the first NFTs to be released in a limited edition of 200 beginning September 12th. The NFTs will be available for purchase on the leading NFT marketplace OpenSea.
By purchasing at least one NFT from the HEROES collection, holders will gain access to a private section of the community where they will be able to interact with athletes, redeem NFT benefits, and decide the fate of HEROES through its upcoming DAO.
