The World Economic Forum (WEF) has collaborated with Microsoft and Accenture to create a metaverse platform that will enable public-private cooperation to take place in the virtual world.
As a collaborative space, the metaverse platform, dubbed “Global Collaboration Village,” will bring together businesses, international organizations, public figures, and governments to discuss some of the most pressing global issues.
With four key goals — global cooperation, interactivity, inclusiveness, and impact — at its foundation, the Global Collaboration Village has already attracted more than 80 leading companies from technology and other industries as partners, which will help accelerate the creation of policy and governance frameworks for the metaverse.
The metaverse platform was first announced yesterday, January 17, 2023, during WEF’s Annual Meeting 2023, in which representatives from WEF, Microsoft, and Accenture emphasized the promise of the metaverse, which has the ability to cut down limits experienced within the real world.
The meeting also revealed that, while the metaverse platform would not replace The Forum’s IRL activities, it will supplement them.
Since 1971, the World Economic Forum has brought together decision-makers from all walks of life to collaborate on projects and ideas that make a significant impact in the world.
As a result of this metaverse initiative, the non-profit foundation will be able to pursue its mission in a more immersive, facilitative way, allowing a broader range of participation and involvement.
