Fashion company Valentino has made its debut in the metaverse by partnering with Meta to create digital fashion looks for platform avatars.
The collaboration has resulted in the creation of six virtual outfits that draw inspiration from Valentino’s latest fashion collections: Pink PP, Toile Iconographe, Maison Valentino Essentials, and the new Valentino Garavani Rockstud ballerinas.
These digital clothing pieces are already available for purchase, with prices ranging from approximately $3 to $9. Meta will be sharing revenues generated from these sales with Valentino.
Users can already dress their avatars in Valentino’s stylish looks on the Meta Avatars Store available across Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger.
This move by Valentino signifies the growing importance of the metaverse in the fashion industry, foreshadowing the future of digital fashion experiences. The emergence of Web3 has revitalized the fashion sector, particularly in response to challenging times such as the global COVID-19 pandemic, which caused a temporary halt in various industries, including fashion.
Metaverse fashion week has found its place within the virtual world, with numerous fashion brands embracing new technologies to captivate younger audiences and strengthen their relationship with customers. Notably, Gucci and Christie’s recently collaborated to fuse art, technology, and fashion in a non-fungible token (NFT) auction. Additionally, Roc Nation and Puma joined forces to introduce a sneaker collection that incorporates NFTs.
